Registration for the TNZ Selection Event to Attend 

Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament 2024

Taekwondo New Zealand will be holding the selections for this team at the TNZ Kukkiwon Cup, 19th and 20th August.  Athletes wishing to be considered for the selection should be at this event.  The selectors will be present at the tournament, viewing and assessing the athletes and their performances.

Failure to take part in this event may rule an athlete out of contention for selection.

Pre-Selection Criteria – Selection of Athletes:

·       Must have a Kukkiwon Dan holder certificate

·       Must be 17 years or older as of 2024

·       The athlete had to hold a valid New Zealand passport and a New Zealand Citizen

·       The athlete must be a registered member of Taekwondo New Zealand

·       The athlete must have a current GAL (Global Athlete License) It is up to the individual athlete to ensure this license is up to date.

·       Applications must be sent to the High-Performance Director, by no later than Friday 11 August 2023 AT 9.00 PM NZ time.  Please ensure you have received a reply email stating the application has been received.  Weight divisions WILL NOT be able to be changed by the athlete after this date.

·       Must specify on the application the Olympic weight division that the athlete wishes to be selected in to compete at the Oceania Olympic Qualifiers.

·       The athlete must compete at the national selection event (Kukkiwon Cup) in their chosen weight division.

Privacy

Details collected will be treated in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, information will not be passed to a third party. Health Information regarding existing conditions/allergies will only be disclosed to first aid personal if deemed appropriate. Registration information will only be disclosed to authorized persons, High-performance director/Coaches, with the permission of the athlete.

Photographs and videos taken at the event may be used by Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ) for promotion of events and athletes, this includes publication on social media and the TNZ website but will not be on-sold to third parties.

The Selection Panel

The Taekwondo New Zealand Selection Panel (TSP) plays a crucial role in selecting athletes for the New Zealand Team. The main objective of the TSP is to identify talented and competitive athletes with the potential to excel at the international level. The selection process will be transparent, fair, and guided by the principles of excellence and sportsmanship.

Athlete Registrations and Expressions of Interest

Please fill out the online form below, once you have filled out the form, within a couple of days, you will receive an email with information and a formal registration form. This form must be completed and emailed back to the Kyorugi Director. Registration closes on the 11th August 2023.
