Kukkiwon New Zealand Office

Overview

World Taekwondo and Kukkiwon signed a significant co-operative agreement in March of 2021. This agreement has brought both organisations closer, whereby WT MNAs will be authorized to contact promotion tests and administration and promote the education of Kukkiwon Dam/Poom in the pertinent country.

 As a result of the co-operative agreement, on the 3rd of May 2022, Kukkiwon and TNZ began formal discussions with the intent of establishing of New Zealand Kukkiwon Office (Kukkiwon Commission). A formal Letter of Intent (LOI) between Kukkiwon and TNZ, the NMA for New Zealand was signed on the 13th May 2022, by the Kukkiwon President Lee Dongsup and TNZ President Jin Keun Oh.

 

“The purpose of the LOI is to install a Kukkiwon Office (Kukkiwon Commission) within Taekwondo New Zealand to implement target business of Kukkiwon and promote the development and harmony of Taekwondo in the country as mutual partners”

 Basic Principles

-Kukkiwon and Taekwondo New Zealand agree to cooperate with each other as partners to disseminate and further facilitate Kukkiwon Taekwondo in the country through promotion test, education and competitions based on the principle of mutual trust.” LOI 2022

 

Framework

 The Kukkiwon New Zealand Office will become effective on the 8th May 2023.

 Oversight of the office will be by Taekwondo New Zealand and the TNZ Board.

 -Positions such as special committees are to be filled as and when required

-Appointments to be made by the President, but are approved by the TNZ board (oversight).
