Examination and Grading information

Opportunities for students to sit Kukkiwon Poom/Dan examinations throughout the year will be made available to prospective candidates.

For candidates sitting 1st to 3rd Poom/Dan examination this will be completed by a Recommender recommending to the Kukkiwon New Zealand Office (KNZO) the suitability of the candidate to achieve the requirements of the examination. Examinations to 1st and 3rd Poom/Dan levels are undertaken by the Recommender.

For candidates wishing to sit a Higher Dan examination (4th and above) they must be recommended by a Recommender, whereby the Recommender submits the submission on behalf of the candidate to sit a Higher Dan Examination. Higher Dan Examination dates will be announced each year with the intention of holding examinations throughout New Zealand. Please see the events page for 2023 High Dan dates.

For more details on the process please see the linked presentation (Click Here). The Kukkiwon New Zealand Office will be holding in person education events to discuss the theory and practice of the examination process - see our events page for dates and to register (Click here).
