Kia ora everyone, my name is Sophia. I am standing for the position of Vice President. I have previous governance experience with Taekwondo Union of New Zealand and have been active in Taekwondo over the years as an athlete, an instructor, an examiner and as an international referee. My passion is to develop taekwondo within New Zealand and ensuring that taekwondo as a martial art remains inclusive, for all ages and physical abilities. I hope that everyone can challenge themselves in their own personal taekwondo journey, may it be on the regional, national, continental and world stage.

Treasurer: Master Selena Chhika

I have been involved in taekwondo ever since I was old enough to step onto the mat. Now a 4th Dan black belt, I have experience competing internationally in poomsae and when not competing, can often be found behind the kyorugi desk running the electronic scoring system.

I’m passionate about making taekwondo accessible and inclusive, especially by supporting opportunities for female athletes and encouraging greater participation at all levels. I aim to be a voice for our taekwondo community and to help grow the sport across the country.
