Eligibility
Championship points may only be earned by registered school students competing in TNZ-sanctioned tournaments.
Points are awarded to the school of the student, not the individual competitor.
Points Structure
3 Points – Participation in a TNZ-sanctioned tournament.
10 Points – Participation in two or more categories (e.g., Poomsae & Kyorugi) in the same TNZ-sanctioned tournament.
20 Points – Division Bronze in a TNZ-sanctioned tournament.
30 Points – Division Silver in a TNZ-sanctioned tournament.
50 Points – Division Gold in a TNZ-sanctioned tournament.
Conditions of Points Awarding
Points are cumulative (e.g., an athlete who wins a Gold medal in Poomsae and also competes in Kyorugi will earn both participation points and medal points).
A competitor may only earn points for results officially confirmed by the tournament organisers and TNZ.
Evidence of Results
Students must submit evidence of tournament participation and results to schools@taekwondo.co.nz.
Evidence must include the competitor’s full name, school, tournament name/date, and official results.
Championship Rankings
Points will be tallied throughout the year and updated on the official TNZ Schools Championship leaderboard.
Disputes
All disputes must be directed to schools@taekwondo.co.nz and will be reviewed by the TNZ Board. Once the TNZ Board has made a final decision, no further correspondence will be entered into.
The school with the highest total points at the end of the season will be crowned 2026 Schools Taekwondo Champion.
